Shooter video games are the types of video games that mainly focus on combat that involves projectile weapons like guns and missiles. These video shooter games can be categorized into first-person and third-person shooters, depending on the camera perspective. Some first-person shooters video games use light gun technology. First person shooter games online are commonly known as FPSs, and they usually emphasize shooting and combat from the perspective of the character controlled by the player. Almost all the FPSs are very fast-paced and require quick reflexes on high difficulty levels. Wolfenstein 3D was the first commonly known FPS.

With the release of the first person shooter game Doom, most of the FPS today have a multi player aspect that allow competition between many player. Some of these kinds of FPS are Team Fortress 2, Halo 3, Killzone 2, Unreal Tournament 3 and Call of duty 4. However, massively multiplayer FPS online games are one of the best shooter video games. These games combine FPS game play with a virtual world in which many players may interact over the internet. Moreover, light gun shooter games are video shooter games that are specially designed for use with a pointing device for computer and a control panel for arcade and home consoles. These types of shooter video games include T2: The Arcade Game and Revolution X.

One of the other kinds of first person online shooter video games is shoot’em up game. In this game the player has to control a character or vehicle and has to shoot many enemies while dodging incoming projectiles. The first type of this game was Space war. However, tactical shooters are variations on the FPS and the third person shooter kinds that usually focus on realism and accentuate tactical play such as planning and teamwork. Moreover winning is likely to be dependent on capturing an objective of some sort rather than gaining the most kills.

Third- person shooter games are the types of shooter video games online. These games are commonly known as TPSs or 3PSs. These games accentuate shooting and combat from a camera perspective in which the player character is seen at a distance. These shooter video games allow more elaborate movement such as rolling or diving, as opposed to simple jumping and crouching common in FPS games. However, some 3PSs have a function that allows you to switch to first-person in-game, such as in the Star Wars Battlefront series.
